Clean Ocean Energy
Powering America Relies on Clean Ocean Energy
The United States faces an urgent need to secure our energy independence, safeguard our grid, and increase our supply of stable, homegrown, carbon-free energy sources like offshore wind. The cheapest way to get new power on the grid and lower energy bills is to invest in renewable energy like wind and solar.
Offshore wind produces affordable, reliable, domestically-produced energy when and where Americans need it most.
Offshore Drilling Threatens Our Environment and Economy
Expanding offshore oil and gas drilling puts coastal economies and ecosystems at risk.
Dangerous for our coasts
President Trump’s proposed plan is a dangerous and dramatic expansion of offshore drilling, including in areas that have never been drilled before. Americans overwhelmingly oppose new offshore drilling; nearly two-thirds of voters want their elected officials to protect U.S. coastlines from new drilling, oil spills, toxic pollution, and long-term environmental damage.
Higher energy costs
Trump’s fossil-fuel-only agenda is driving up energy costs; since he took office, household electricity prices have risen by 13%. Expanding offshore drilling won’t lower prices here in the U.S. – as oil is sold on the global market and the U.S. has been a net exporter since 2020.
